Drivers
DriveAway is a transportation service in which a company contracts with an independent contracted driver to drive a customer’s vehicle from point A to point B. The driver does not haul or tow the customer’s vehicle; instead, the driver operates the customer’s truck itself to its final destination.

Yes, all drivers must meet the following requirements:
Team DriveAway operates on a non-force dispatch system. Drivers are required to transport 3–5 loads per month. If a driver goes two consecutive months without meeting this quota, their contract may be subject to termination.
Drivers review the load board on the driver portal and contact their dispatcher to get assigned to the loads they are interested in.
Once load is accepted by driver, they are responsible for getting themselves to and from the pick-up and drop-off location on time. Team DriveAway does not arrange or pay for transportation to or from pick-up or drop-off locations.
Load boards are updated in real time and are found on the driver portal.
Earnings with Team DriveAway vary depending on the driving division, type of load, and number of loads a driver takes per week. As all drivers are independent contractors, your income depends on how often you run and the types of loads you choose to transport.
Drivers are responsible for their own transportation to and from pick-up and drop-off locations, as well as food, lodging, and entertainment while on the road.
Depending on the division, drivers may also be responsible for fuel during transport and must leave at least 4 inches of fuel in the truck at the drop-off location. Fuel compensation is provided only through the fuel surcharge fee, which is added to the driver’s payout for each load.
Yes. Each driving division has its own pay scale. Please contact recruiting for more information on pay scales for each division.
All Team DriveAway drivers are independent contractors (1099 drivers), not employees. We do not offer benefits or health insurance for drivers. Drivers are responsible for filing and paying their own taxes, as Team DriveAway does not withhold taxes.
Drivers must have verifiable experience to drive for any Team DriveAway division.
However, drivers in the Singles Division who hold a Class A CDL with Doubles/Triples endorsements may become eligible to advance to our NEW DECK division after successfully running for 6 months in the Singles Division and maintaining good standing with the company.
Before advancing to our New Deck division, drivers must be verified by our New Deck Mentors.
No. Drivers do not need to reapply to switch divisions. They simply need to notify their dispatcher, who will inform the Safety and Compliance department. This department will run new reports and check eligibility to determine if the driver qualifies for the new division.
Yes! Team DriveAway offers several bonus programs for drivers:
All bonuses are paid out on the third Tuesday of the following month.
